LASER HAIR REMOVAL

Is Laser Hair Removal Right For Me? – Keep reading to find out.

The Cutera CoolGlide® Laser is used at Heartland Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery for the removal of unwanted hair. The old fashioned ways of removing hair such as shaving, tweezing, creams and waxing are time consuming and don’t last. And, although electrolysis can permanently remove hair, it is an extremely slow and painful method.  The Cutera CoolGlide® Laser is the best hair removal system on the market for all skin types and tones, female and male.

Is Laser Hair Removal Safe?

The Cutera CoolGlide® Laser is FDA cleared for permanent hair reduction on all skin types including very fair skin and Olive or African-American skin. Treatments are most effective on medium to dark hair on any skin type. Fine and light hair is very difficult to treat. Blonde, red, white and gray hair cannot be treated.

What Can I Expect During Treatment?

You can request a topical anesthetic to help make the treatment more comfortable, this numbs the targeted area. Most patients feel a warm sting as the laser penetrates the hair follicle. Many people describe the sensation like the snap of a rubber band against their skin. To minimize the discomfort, a cool gel is applied to the skin before treatment. The Cutera® Laser is equipped with a cooled hand piece which allows the technician to cool the skin before and after treatment.

How Many Treatments Are Needed?

Laser treatments impair the growth capacity of the hair follicles when they are in the active growth stage. Not all follicles are active at the same time and it may require several treatments, performed every six weeks, to obtain the desired result.

The number of treatments needed to achieve hair reduction varies. Most patients experience a marked reduction in hair growth in 3 to 5 treatments.

Additionally, other factors such as hair density, age and hormones can affect the results of your treatments.

What Should I Expect Following Each Treatment?

Once your treatment session is complete, you are free to resume your normal routine. Some patients might experience a slight redness in the treated area. This should resolve in a day or two.

Avoid sun exposure and use sunscreen following any laser treatment.
